The Great Emu Chase tells the story of a Grandfather's
hilarious adventure through an Australian wildlife park, as
he attempts to get his chippies back from a menacing,
flightless bird....THE EMU
"Told in rhyme, the story includes a fun refrain that is likely to be embraced quickly by young readers. "

I began working in the childcare industry shortly after I left school at the age of 17. I completed an Associate Diploma of Social Science (Child Studies) and a Bachelor of Teaching (0-5 years). I am a passionate advocate for the care and education of young children and have worked with children and families in Long Day Care and Preschool settings for over 12 years.
Most of my work has been in the South Western suburbs of Sydney and has included working on some projects specifically funded for families from communities who are socially/geographically isolated, culturally and linguistically diverse and/or economically disadvantaged.
I am currently employed to work part time in a community capacity and my role is to provide children and families with access to toys and books and to promote early reading and literacy development with children (0-5 years). Part of my role also includes conducting individual and/or group story time sessions with children and their parents/families and role modeling positive strategies/ techniques to use with young children.
I have always enjoyed reading picture books with young children throughout my teaching career, however it was at the end of 2006, after the birth of my second child, that my interest in writing grew and I began writing childrens stories of my own. I had always read to my own two children since they were babies and I could see the benefits and the joy that they were getting out of these shared reading experiences so it made me want to give them that same joy through reading stories that I had written myself.
In 2007, I completed my first short course in writing, Creating Picture Books by Libby Gleeson and have since followed on with other short courses and E-Tutorials including Successful Self Publishing by Sherryl Clark.
I plan on continuing to develop my skills as a writer and learn more about the industry of writing and publishing childrens picture books and hope to be able to share my books with children from the local communities that I work in.
